This year’s Buddy’s Marathon was a big success with a huge crowd turnout and a lot of support for all the kids taking part. The kids were aged up to 17 years old, with the competition split into four separate events. It was really encouraging to see how much effort the kids put into their races, and how much they enjoyed themselves.
We would like to say a big thank you to all the kids who took part in the races, as you made the event the exciting competition that it was. Also a huge thank you to all the family, friends and other spectators for cheering on the competitors and providing such an exciting atmosphere. We are also really grateful for Rancho Texas Park for sponsoring the Buddy’s Marathon, your support means a great deal to us!
The Lanzarote International Marathon is not just for professional athletes, but is designed to be an inclusive event for everyone including kids. That is why Sands Beach Resort started our popular Rancho TexasBuddy’s Marathon with our much loved kids club mascot Buddy the dog. Here at Sands Beach Resort we believe an active lifestyle is very important in order to enjoy a healthy, happy life.
In order to achieve this we aim to promote sport and exercise to kids from a young age, in a fun and inclusive way. If this is done properly then kids grow up enjoying exercise and the lifelong benefit it has in their lives, and ideally they will continue taking part in sport and exercising throughout their adult years.
A new edition to this year’s Rancho Texas Buddy’s Marathon was the mascot race which provided a lot of entertainment. Unfortunately for us here at Sands Beach Resort, Buddy only managed 3rd place, but we hope to continue with the mascot race next year so we are sure he will come back stronger. He is going to start training next week!
Overall the Buddy’s Marathon was great fun for all the kids competing, and everyone watching. It provides a great warm-up to the main event tomorrow which we are sure you are all looking forward to!
